Economic Sustainability Through Affordable Housing

DEWAYNE W. BRIGHT, SR. has committed his career to improve the quality of life for residents of Kansas City, MO’s urban core through housing and community development. As a community organizer, he remained focused on leadership development as the primary tool to address the multitude of concerns that impact families. DeWayne attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Baker University where he studied Business Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Leadership.

Project

The Unified Government of Kansas City and Wyandotte County is currently working to increase affordable housing options to address the rising housing shortage crisis and increase the city’s workforce and economic development potential as well as the well-being of its citizens. FUSE Executive Fellow DeWayne Bright, Sr. will help research and design a cohesive housing development strategy that will help increase housing affordability and availability, encourage housing retention in vulnerable neighborhoods, and maximize local economic impacts on building owners, residents, and businesses.
