Spring 2023 FUSE Executive Fellow Marquise Roberson-Bester

Marquise Roberson

2023 - 2024 | King County - Department of Natural Resources and Parks

Advancing the Regional Green Jobs Agenda

MARQUISE ROBERSON is a native of Milwaukee, WI, but a long-time resident of Seattle, WA who prides himself on being a dedicated advocate, change agent and servant leader on behalf and alongside BIPOC communities. Roberson has spent most of his career transforming educational structures: policies and practices. He has done this alongside executive and community leaders through a DEIB lens. For him, this has looked like working with superintendents, across the county, to create and enact strategy that would create equity and opportunity that is sustainable within the most advanced coursework within high schools. He has worked on everything from state strategy development to student focus groups. Roberson’s emphasis within his work is to build deep relationships through active listening and finding common ground, foster a shared leadership space where all voices influence the work, distill information and communicate complex ideas that can be understood by all and create strategy that is reflective of community, actionable and sustainable.

He received his undergraduate at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where he triple majored in Retail Merchandising, Business and Marketing and Nonprofit Leadership.

Project

Promoting green job growth by expanding existing jobs and improving access to green career pathways is a key component of the King County Strategic Climate Action Plan. FUSE Executive Fellow Marquise Roberson will support county officials in setting and advancing the regional green jobs agenda and facilitating public-private partnerships and regional collective action to achieve green employment goals.
