FUSE is seeking a Technology & Operations Manager to support the organization’s IT systems, AI enablement, and operational infrastructure across all departments. This role will administer key platforms such as Salesforce and Google Workspace, manage the adoption of AI-driven tools and workflows, and build the internal systems and workflows that enable staff to work more effectively.
Location: FUSE is a fully virtual organization, and this position can be based remotely from anywhere in the United States.
Annual Salary: This position offers a non-negotiable annual salary of $90,000 and robust benefits. More details can be provided upon request.

FUSE is a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing the capacity of local governments to work more effectively for communities. We embed private sector executives in city and county agencies to lead projects that improve public services, accelerate systems change, and advance equitable opportunities. Since 2012, FUSE has led over 500 projects in 65 governments across 30 states, impacting a total population equivalent to 1 in 10 Americans.
When designing each fellowship project, FUSE works closely with government partners and community stakeholders to define a scope of work that will achieve substantive progress toward high-priority local needs. Projects address today’s most pressing challenges and opportunities, including affordable housing, economic mobility, climate resilience, public safety, infrastructure, technology, and more.
FUSE conducts a full executive search for each individual project to ensure that the selected candidate has at least 15 years of professional experience, the required competencies for the role, and deep connections to the community being served.
Executive Fellows are embedded in government agencies working with senior leaders for at least one year of full-time work. Prospective responsibilities may include thorough data analytics and research, developing enhanced operations and financial models, building change management and strategic planning processes, and/or building broad coalitions to support project implementation efforts. Executive Fellows are data-driven and results-oriented, and able to effectively manage complex projects. They build strong relationships with a broad array of stakeholders, foster alignment within and across various layers of government, and build partnerships between governments and communities.
Throughout the fellowships, Executive Fellows receive training, coaching, and professional support to help achieve their project goals.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance & Operations, the Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the organization’s processes and operations are effectively supported through technology systems and AI-enabled workflows. This work will strengthen the role technology plays in each staff member’s day-to-day work and create efficiencies across data, content platforms, and external communication activities. Additionally, the Manager will build strong relationships across departments and vendors to surface innovative ideas for how we can better support the organization’s annual goals and strategic plans. The Manager will bring a commitment to operational excellence through technology, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for enabling local governments to work more effectively for all communities.
Position Responsibilities
Technology Systems
- Maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure and data integrity across all platforms, primarily including Google Workspace, Dropbox, Salesforce CRM, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Claude.ai, ChatGPT, Slack, Zoom, Asana, Canva, and others.
- Develop and deliver ongoing documentation and training to ensure staff can effectively use the organization’s core technology platforms.
- Administer Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ensuring data is being captured, shared, and utilized for reporting and communications. This includes creating workflow automations and supporting departments in managing mass email sends in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Oversee relationships with technology vendors (hardware maintenance, software support, Salesforce, website management).
- Drive organization-wide and interdepartmental adoption of new workflows, processes, and reporting.
AI Enablement
- Support the organization’s adoption of AI tools and workflows across departments, helping staff integrate AI effectively into day-to-day work.
- Help develop and maintain organizational AI usage guidelines, policies, and best practices.
- Provide training and learning opportunities for all staff to build AI literacy and use AI effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency, collaboration, and knowledge management through AI-enabled workflows and automation, ensuring these tools work equitably across all staff and communities served.
- Stay current on emerging AI tools and capabilities and recommend practical applications aligned with organizational priorities.
Operations
- Oversee process and audit information related to federal, state, and local filings and registrations in locations where the organization operates throughout the country.
- Collaborate with members of the broader FUSE team in activities related to the overall achievement of departmental metrics, organizational goals.
- Assist in document preparation for annual audit.
- Support the Finance & Operations Team with employee onboarding, offboarding, and hiring.
- Support the Senior Director and Chief Finance & Operating Officer in financial planning, research, and modeling.
Who You’ll Work With
The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Finance & Operations and will work closely with the Associate of Finance & Operations and peers across the organization.
Required Skills and Experience
- A passion for civic innovation and a belief that local government can positively impact people’s lives, with a particular focus on historically underserved communities.
- 5+ years of project management experience, including managing complex projects with multiple workstreams, stakeholders, partners, and vendors.
- Ability to follow up and follow through with all assigned tasks in order to meet aggressive deadlines in a remote environment with a minimal level of support or oversight.
- A proven track record of quickly learning new technologies to serve as the internal expert.
- Experience leading or supporting the successful adoption of new processes within an organization.
- Experience in Salesforce and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Strong familiarity with AI platforms such as Claude and ChatGPT, including the ability to identify and implement practical AI-enabled workflows and operational improvements.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of colleagues, vendors, and consultants.
- Superior organization and time management skills with strong attention to detail and exceptional multitasking capabilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
