Project
The District of Columbia is advancing efforts to stabilize and expand Limited Equity Cooperatives (LECs) to address housing disparities, preserve affordable homeownership opportunities, and build intergenerational wealth for low-income and historically underrepresented residents. This initiative will develop essential tools and strategies to strengthen LEC governance, financial sustainability, and long-term viability, positioning the District as a leader in innovative and sustainable homeownership solutions. By enhancing support for these cooperative housing models, D.C. aims to maintain affordability while creating pathways to wealth building for underserved communities.
