Project
The SMART project in Chatham County seeks to bolster community resilience by enhancing transportation connectivity, focusing on historically disadvantaged areas. Chatham Area Transit (CAT) aims to prototype zonal microtransit using electric vehicles, partnering with academic institutions and industry experts to increase accessibility to essential services. Starting in Spring 2024, FUSE Executive Fellow Gloria Wesley will play a key role in understanding, integrating efforts, and implementing a strategy that addresses gaps in transportation, homelessness, and affordable housing, ultimately aiming to improve microtransit policy development in the region by April 2025.
