SAMI IWATA (2017-18) has more than 15 years of experience reframing issues and driving solutions in industries such as technology, higher-education publishing, design, and the nonprofit sector. She has launched a new college astronomy textbook franchise, and led user research in holiday light displays and remote access software. Most recently, she was an Adobe product manager, leading global engineering teams, building data capabilities, and championing improvements to the customer experience. She is also a trained personal coach. Sami earned a BA from Yale University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
Project
San Francisco’s economy is booming, but there are opportunity disparities among gender identity, race, ethnicity, immigration status, and other socio-economic indicators. Sami helped the city identify barriers to advancing equity and the resources needed to overcome those barriers. Read more
