San Diego County and FUSE are helping farmers adopt climate-smart practices that strengthen local food systems and build long-term resilience.
Producers across the county are managing drought, heat, and shifting market pressures while working to keep food local and maintain healthy land. Access to resources and technical assistance can determine whether farms can adopt practices that improve soil health and stability. The County is developing supportive programs that make it easier for growers of all sizes to transition to regenerative approaches.
Together with FUSE, the County will design incentives, expand outreach, and partner with conservation leaders to reach more producers, including those who have been historically excluded from support systems. The FUSE Executive Fellow will coordinate with stakeholders and establish straightforward pathways for participation, ensuring that climate-smart practices are practical to adopt. These efforts will foster sustainable stewardship, strengthen local supply chains, and support a more resilient agricultural economy.
