To help San Francisco develop a plan for widespread electric vehicle adoption, FUSE Fellow Lars Peters developed a series of recommendations based on best practices from cities around the world and input from city and community stakeholders.
Lars based his recommendations on analysis of available data, oriented them towards specific outcomes, and prioritized them based on impact. Final results are to be presented at the next convening of the Electric Vehicle Working Group, led by the San Francisco Department of the Environment and the Office of the City Administrator. Lars also worked directly on two key ordinances that were adopted during the fellowship. The first required city departments to electrify 100% of the city’s passenger fleet by 2022; the second requires parking places in all new residential and commercial construction, as well as large major retrofits, to accommodate electric vehicle charging.
