Phoenix and FUSE are advancing clean energy solutions across the airport system to improve reliability, reduce emissions, and support community wellbeing.
Airports are essential economic and transportation hubs that must operate reliably in a changing climate. Phoenix is exploring how on-site energy storage, microgrids, and other clean energy solutions can support resilient operations and reduce environmental impacts. The aviation system’s scale and visibility make it a powerful platform for innovation that benefits workers, travelers, and nearby neighborhoods.
FUSE is partnering with the Aviation Department to evaluate options, coordinate partners, and chart a path from goals to implementation. The FUSE Executive Fellow will engage utilities and city departments, assess feasibility, and recommend approaches for scaling clean energy investments. This work will enhance airport resilience, promote environmental stewardship, and demonstrate how critical infrastructure can drive the transition to a cleaner future.
