JENNIE ANN COLE is a community-based researcher and co-creator of knowledge. As a community-based researcher, she has directed studies on gentrification, food equity, and housing insecurity utilizing participatory action models of research design. Through the emancipatory photovoice process, she has had the chance to collaborate with historically marginalized populations to comprehend community challenges in North and South Carolina. Jennie Ann holds a Ph.D. in social work and a master’s in social service administration.
Project
Guilford County, NC, is currently working to address high food insecurity rates and contributing to historic inequities by improving food security through working across multiple food system components. FUSE Executive Fellow Jennie Ann will help execute the County’s Food Security Program by developing and implementing a county-wide food security plan, thereby developing more just and sustainable food systems and improving the community’s health and well-being.
