RONALD PERKINS is passionate about connecting the workforce ecosystem to communities, job seekers, and employers. As the Director of Workforce Innovation, Ron’s position has allowed him to combine multiple facets near to his heart. He has collaborated with local and state governments on workforce and economic development initiatives around programming, training, and implementation. Ron’s understanding and empathy have impacted several communities, allowing him to have a deeper connection with their residents. Connecting with various audiences, including employers, is one of Ron’s biggest strengths. Ron is highly adept at streamlining processes that create opportunities and pathways to desirable outcomes.
Project
Pittsburgh’s Mayor’s Office is piloting a number of educational initiatives to train and prepare students for local jobs that are in high demand and that offer sustainable, living wages. In partnership with the chief equity officer, FUSE will serve as the liaison for regional career and technical education (CTE) initiatives. This will enable more effective coordination between local employers, job training programs, city departments, and the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
