Phoenix and FUSE are modernizing the municipal fleet to improve air quality, lower costs, and deliver reliable city services.

City fleets touch every neighborhood and play a key role in public health and operational efficiency. Transitioning to cleaner vehicles and fuels requires thoughtful planning, workforce readiness, and charging and maintenance strategies that support day-to-day service. Phoenix is aligning its climate goals with operational needs, enabling cleaner fleet choices that improve reliability and community health.

FUSE will help the city analyze fleet composition, plan for infrastructure, and design a phased transition that prioritizes neighborhoods most burdened by pollution. The FUSE Executive Fellow will coordinate departments, develop financing and procurement strategies, and support workforce training. This comprehensive roadmap will reduce emissions, cut long-term costs, and modernize operations in ways that residents feel on the street where they live.
