The Los Angeles County Probation Department seeks to strengthen support for people who have been incarcerated so that they can successfully re-enter their communities. To help advance this goal, FUSE Executive Fellow Jessica Aronoff worked with the Post Release Services Bureau to develop a plan that maximizes the impact of its programs and services.

Jessica led a strategic planning process culminating in a two-year proposal to increase the bureau’s operational effectiveness and enhance services for people under post-release supervision. She identified best practices from re-entry programs around the country to inform the plan. Ideas include creating new communications tools, including an online employee survey and a forum encouraging information-sharing between leadership and staff. Jessica also worked with the bureau’s administrative team to streamline redundant systems and reduce red tape. By implementing these and other changes outlined in the proposal, the bureau can better focus its resources on programs and services that are most effective at reducing recidivism.
